Event Description

Please join us on Sunday May 7, 2023 as we invite walkers, runners, joggers, strollers, and more for our First Annual Spring Scamper 5K. Come on out of hibernation, as nature awakens around Redbrook, and Spring begins to ease us back outdoors!

Meet your neighbors and make new friends from the greater community outside of Redbrook – all are welcome, all for a great cause.

100% of the event’s proceeds will benefit the campers of Old Colony YMCA's Camp Clark. We are proud to partner with The Old Colony YMCA to provide scholarships for families who may not be able to afford their wonderful summer camp. Let's work together to make summer camp happen for our local children.

Anyone is invited and the more, the merrier. Tell your friends, families, neighbors, colleagues and anyone who might like to join our event to support our little campers.

Like our Fall Frolic (held last Fall), the Spring Scamper will host a kids’ half-mile Fun Run beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K is planned to start at 10:00 a.m..

Both runs will begin and end at The Kennard Barn, where awards will be given and festivities will continue afterward.

Early registration offers a discount, so sign up today, tell a friend, mark your calendar, and get excited for the season. Early bird signup will end on April 14th so please register before then (get the discount AND the free tee shirt before that date).

This event is open to anyone who would like to join – runners, walkers, parents, grandparents, friends, and folks pushing strollers too! There is something for everyone – the 5K (that travels through the historic and beautiful A.D. Makepeace Co. cranberry bog roads here at Redbrook) and the half-mile Fun Run for the younger kids (ages 5-15).

Pet Policy
Due to insurance and liability issues imposed, no pets are allowed at the event. That means NO DOGS allowed with runners or walkers on the course and we kindly ask spectators to leave ALL PETS at home. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Of course, licensed/certified service animals are welcome.

T-shirts
T-shirts will be given out to all participants (children and adults) who register before April 14th. We cannot guarantee t-shirt giveaways for those who register after that date.

Parking
Due to limited parking around the cranberry bogs, parking will be available at the Old Colony YMCA here at Redbrook and a shuttle will be provided to bring participants to The Kennard Bogs.

If you choose to walk and warm up before the 5k, The Kennard Barn is also a walkable distance from the YMCA. There will be plenty of signage and volunteers to help guide the way.

GPS Address
The GPS address for Redbrook is 237 Wareham Rd., Plymouth, MA.

Parking is available at the Old Colony YMCA on our property.

Our Course
A wooded nature trail situated among one of Massachusetts' most beautiful wonders - cranberry bogs! The trail surface includes sand, stones, grass, turf, mud, and asphalt.

Covid-19
We ask that any participant, spectator, volunteer that is not feeling well in ANY way do not attend the event. We expect all attendees to adhere to the most current state and local recommendations for the safety and security of all.

The goals of the Spring Scamper are:
1. To create an event that celebrates building strong minds and healthy bodies.
2. Proceeds to support Old Colony YMCA's Camp Clark - our goal is to help the YMCA provide scholarships for children to attend summer camp.

Join us to race, run, jog, or walk! Walking and strollers encouraged but please be sure they can travel over cranberry roads.

This event is rain or shine.

We can't wait to see you there!
