Event Description

The Barking Trees Run/Walk at Starkey Park was created so you can bring your dog(s) with you to exercise.  All humans and socially friendly pets ages 1-100 are welcome!  Pets must be a minimum age of six months old, and fully up to date on their vaccinations.  All dogs must be on a non-retractable leash which is six feet or less at all times.  The leash must be held by a human 14 years of age or greater.  We strongly encourage an adult to be in control of the leash.  The dog owner must in control of the dog at all times.  Dog owners are responsible for cleaning up their own pet waste.  Dogs must be friendly to other dogs and humans of all ages.

We believe in dogs motivating people to live a healthy lifestyle.  We have a different distance for everyone.  We even created a small dog trot for 200ft.  This distance is great for toddlers ages 1-2 or small dogs.  Please note that each event will include dogs, but you do not have to bring a dog.  We will allow the humans without dogs to start before the humans with dogs.  This race is a plastic free event.  Each participant must bring their own water bottle filled with water.  We believe in keep our environment clean without the use of plastic water bottles.   We will have aid stations along the course where you can fill your bottles up with water only.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay will be providing pet adoptions.  We will also have free iced coffee and pup cups provided by Starbucks.  Our packet pickup will be at REI (in Tampa) three days leading up to the event.

This will be a timed event for the half marathon, 10K and 5K distances.
