          THE CEDARTOWN WHEELCHAIR 5K, however, is still OPEN

 

Welcome to the official Cedartown Wheelchair Athlete Training Camp and C5K race registration site. This year, we are thrilled to host the 20th-annual C5K and are excited to see what the next 20 years will bring!! Our partnership with the Shepherd Center and Atlanta Track Club Peachtree 10K is a true honor. We stand united to support the sport of wheelchair racing in Georgia for not only our local communities but also for athletes from around the world.

CAMP DATES: July 4 - July 8 (The camp starts after the conclusion of The Peachtree 10K festivities)
CEDARTOWN Wheelchair 5K RACE: July 6 at 6:00 pm

Accommodations:

This year, athletes will be hosted in dorms on the beautiful Darlington School campus located 15 minutes north of Cedartown. Two persons will share a room.  Book your room early and reserve your spot!!  REGISTRATION FOR THE CAMP CLOSES FRI., JUNE 16th.

Meals:

  • Three meals included per day.
  • Most in the cafeteria on campus.  
  • Some meals including post-race party will be served at different location.
  • NOTE: Darlington School is a nut free / alcohol free campus.

Equipment Clinic:
This year we will introduce an equipment clinic* that will cover maintenance, track steering components,  wheel alignment (toe-in-toe-out), as wall as other important tips to maintain your racing chair ready-to-perform. This is a great opportunity not only for young athletes and newcomers but also for seasoned athletes as well. Leave the session with your wheels aligned and ready to race!!

Training:

There is a track on the campus grounds and there will be scheduled road training sessions from the campus along the Coosa River.

Pricing for Camp Accommodations and 5K Race Registration:

$150 - Camp registration includes transportation to and from Atlanta, accommodation, all meals (but does not include the 5K race).

$30 – 5K race registration

**Coaches, Family, and/or Friends are welcome at the camp for a rate of $200/per person.

Transport to Cedartown:

  • After The Peachtree 10K on July 4th, all athletes will be transported from the Intercontinental Hotel to your Darlington School accommodations.

Transport from Cedartown to Atlanta Airport:

  • Transport on July 7th & 8th early morning (around 7-8am) and noon departures from the campus. The school is 90 minutes from the airport, please book flights accordingly.

(NOTE: If your travel arrangements are outside these hours, we can provide you information to arrange shuttle service at your own expense).

C5K (Cedartown 5K) RACE INFORMATION:

The 5K racecourse will remain the same as previous years on the streets of Cedartown - the C5K delivers the fastest 5K times in the world. The course is technical with some climbs and downhills on smooth roads.

TWO START TIMES 

  1. Race 1-- OPEN WOMEN; QUAD DIVISION
  2. Race 2-- OPEN MEN: MASTERS AND GRAND MASTERS

PRIZE MONEY $$$ and Custom trophy awarded to the top 3 in all IPC wheelchair divisions, including masters and grandmasters as long as minimum 3 competitors per division.

ABLE SPORT is excited to introduce a Triple Crown Series (TCS) for wheelchair athletes. The series is a three-event point-based system for all levels: men/women in open division, quad division, masters, and grand masters. The purpose of the TCS is to help develop and grow the sport of wheelchair racing, providing a more competitive atmosphere for elite as well as up-and-coming wheelchair racers.
