ROTARY KIDS TRIATHLON VERO BEACH

Event will include a Family Community Day at the Complex, offering FREE swim for athletes, family members and the public after the Race!

 

The Inaugural Rotary Kids Triathlon Vero Beach, proudly presented by the Rotary Club of Vero Beach, will be held at the Victor Hart Sr. Community Enhancement Complex in Vero Beach.  This race will allow youngsters ages 6 - 13 to participate in a Swim, Bike, and Run multisport youth event that is geared for both 1st Time Triathletes and the seasoned competitive Triathlete.   This race will also include a RELAY TEAM category in both the Junior and Senior Division. Under the race direction of DRC Sports, this event will be Safe, Fun, and Professional for all athletes using USA Triathlon rules and guidelines.  This race is NOT a USAT Sanctioned event.  Race Central and the swim will be located at the Gifford Aquatic Center.   

Junior Division for children born in 2014 - 2017

Senior Division for children born in 2010 - 2013

Adaptive Athletes for children born in 2010 - 2017

 

SWIM:   JUNIOR DISTANCE - 75 Yards (3 Lengths)

              SENIOR DISTANCE - 150 Yards (6 Lengths)  

              ADAPTIVE ATHLETE DISTANCE - 75 Yards (3 Lengths)

Athletes will swim in the HEATED pool at Gifford Aquatic Center while parents cheer them on from the sideline deck.  There is a shallow end for novice or non-swimmers that want to swim/walk this portion of the event.  Kickboards, noodles, and lifejackets are available and can be used during the swim. (No inflatable arm floats are allowed.)

 

BIKE:   JUNIOR DISTANCE - 1 Mile  

             SENIOR DISTANCE - 2 Miles

             ADAPTIVE ATHLETE DISTANCE - 1 Mile

Athletes will cycle on a flat closed course supported with volunteers and Indian River County Deputies.   Juniors will complete a single 1-mile loop and Seniors will complete two 1-mile loops. Bikes and helmets are required during the bike portion of the race.  If you do not have a bike,  helmet or running shoes, please make every effort to borrow them (but if you are still stuck without this equipment, please let us know when you register because we have a limited number of each if needed). 

 

RUN:   JUNIOR DISTANCE - 1/2 Mile

            SENIOR DISTANCE - 1 Mile  

            ADAPTIVE ATHLETE DISTANCE - 1/2 Mile 

Athletes will complete the run course, which goes around the perimeter of football and baseball fields.  The course includes grass, packed dirt and pavement.  There will be Water Stations on the run course to provide hydration.  Volunteers will be posted along the course to ensure athletes stay on route.  

 

MANDATORY Packet Pickup AND Bike Drop-Off will be on Friday from 3:00 PM-6:00 PM.  ALL Bicycles must be placed in Transition on Friday when you pick up your packet. 

Walking Course Clinics will be provided at 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 on Friday by the Race Director.  These clinics provide an opportunity for athletes and parents to get a preview of the race site/race course, an understanding of how race day will go, and have an opportunity to ask questions and get clarification on any area of the triathlon so that youngsters are comfortable and ready for race morning.   

(NOTE:  There will be Law Enforcement Security overnight at the race site.)

 

Your entry fee includes a Custom Event Shirt, Spectacular Finisher Medals, a Swagbag full of goodies, plenty of food & drinks, Music, and Activities for the whole family including a Family Community Day at the Complex!  The Gifford Aquatic Center will be opening the pool area for the day to all athletes, family members and the public after the Race for FREE!

 

AWARDS:

Top 3 Males and Females in each age group:

Ages 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 years old

(Age is based on your age on Dec 31st of this year)

Top Relay Team in Junior and Senior Divisions 

Top 3 Male & Female in Adaptive Athlete Division
