The Allen County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting our 5th Annual National Night Out at the Allen County Fairgrounds in the Roschman Park area (Shelter House and Pond). Last year we had nearly 1,100 people in attendance throughout the night! This year’s event will run from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM. We will once again have the entire lineup of Sheriff’s Office Teams and Divisions proudly on display to demonstrate their abilities, enhance communication and promote safety. Some of the services you will get to see will be: the Sheriff’s Office K-9 Corps, the Mounted Posse, the SWAT Team, Dive Team, Patrol Division, and Bomb Squad. We will also be joined by the Perry Township Fire Department and Police Department, the Allen County Emergency Management Agency, the Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District, Bath Township Fire Department, and several others.

Lastly, we have collaborated again with the great staff of Anytime Fitness (2119 Elida Rd., Lima) to host a 5K during our National Night Out event to benefit the Allen County D.A.R.E. program. At our 2022 event there were over 200 registered runners! The 5K will be at the fairgrounds and will begin and end close to Roschman Park. It is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start time. We are currently looking to gain sponsorships for our National Night Out and 5K. All profits will be donated to the Allen County D.A.R.E. Program. Prior to this annual event our D.A.R.E. Officer spent about 25% of his work hours soliciting donations to fund all the youth activities that D.A.R.E. hosts annually for the D.A.R.E. kids, but due to last year’s generous donations and successful event it was not necessary for D.A.R.E. Officer Falke to fundraise on a regular basis.  My goal is to continue to make this 5K the only annual fundraising event for the D.A.R.E. Officer, completely eliminating the need to ask for donations throughout the year. These profits pay for D.A.R.E. student’s diplomas, the D.A.R.E. Concert, summer camps, shirts, and classroom drug education resources. Our office is able to pay for the D.A.R.E. Officer’s salary, fuel, and basic employee needs, but we need continuous support to assist with the other costly resources and necessities. Please take a minute to look at our sponsorship request; any donation would be greatly appreciated. If you have already donated to Allen County D.A.R.E. this year, or are unable to at this time, please still join us on August 1st at our National Night Out event.

Thank you for your consideration and if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to either myself, Major McConnahea, or Victoria Gonzalez.
