Event Description
Join North Star for our first ever, quack-tacular "Duck Dash 5k & Kid's Fun Run," happening on July 29, 2023, in the morning, just before our Great Rubber Duck Splash, which is our rubber duck race fundraiser. The 5K begins at 7:30 am, with registration at 6:30 am.
Packet pick-up will be at North Star Community Services (3420 University Avenue, Waterloo) on Friday, July 28th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We encourage packet pick-up on Friday, but don't worry if you can't get there, you may still pick your packet up on race day beginning at 6:30 am.
The cost is $25 without a t-shirt and $35 with a t-shirt. Deadline to be guaranteed a shirt is July 10th! The race includes a participant medal and the 5K will be timed. Fun duck-themed costumes are welcome and encouraged!
The first 50 - 5K registrants will receive ONE (1) free duck adoption and a chance to win great cash prizes at the Great Rubber Duck Splash, which immediately follows at The Falls Aquatic Center (for details, or to adopt more ducks visit https://www.duckrace.com/waterloo).
The 5K begins on the bike trails near the Paw Park, 3200 S. Main Street, Cedar Falls. The 5K is an out and back on the beautiful Cedar Falls bike trails, under South Main along the bike trail, under Greenhill Road to the turn-around point and back.
Parking is in The Falls Aquatic Center parking lot at 3025 S. Main Street, Cedar Falls: Please use the crosswalk to cross South Main Street.
The super-ducky Kid's Fun Run will take place right after the 5K and will begin at 8:45, it will take place on the Jennings Drive Trail and once around The Falls Aquatic Center. The cost for the Fun Run is free or $10 with a t-shirt. Each child will receive a rubber duck necklace.
Following the race, we hope you will consider stopping by our Great Rubber Duck Splash at The Falls, being held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. We will have food trucks and fun kid activities. Admission to the event is free with a minimum of one $5 duck adoption - but feel free to adopt more for more chances to win!
