Event Description

GLRR is proud to announce the 2023 Angry Chicken Race Series. 

Race distance is 2.62 miles – a tenth of a marathon! – with runners going counter-clockwise (against traffic) on the loop portion of the course. 

The races this year will be each Tuesday evening starting at 7PM (early start at 6:45), from July 11 to August 15 (six races).  Scoring will give 1000 points to the race winner, and everyone else a percentage of that based on their finish time. The first five races will be scored, with prizes to the winners given out at Race 6 on August 15th.

The races begin and end at the S-curve at the entrance to the Riverwalk (at the end of River Place road).

Bib pick-up is on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 6:45PM at Marx Running and Fitness, 118 Merrimack Street in downtown Lowell.

Cost is $10 per race when registering online (below) – $50 if you register for all six in the same registration.  It’s $10 per race for in-person registering on race night. 

Proceeds benefit Catie's Closet. Catie’s Closet is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides clothes, toiletries, and other basic essentials to students living in poverty right within their schools.  Free stores are set up in schools, giving children direct access to everything they need to attend class confidently. https://www.catiescloset.org/ For the final race on August 15th, we'll be collecting new and gently used youth/teen clothing, and full-sized toiletries.

Race results will be posted on the GLRR website.  We plan to have race series awards, scoring and some surprises as well!
