Event Description

Pink Lady Walk's mission is to help alleviate some of the financial burdens caused by breast cancer. Since 2014, we have raised funds for 16 breast cancer survivors, one child with cancer, Hospice of Limestone County, AL, and the Patient Assistance Fund at The Southern Cancer Center in Huntsville, AL has been a recipient since 2018.

Last year our recipients were a single mother of a small child, a senior member of our community who was battling breast cancer for the second time, and the Patient Assistance Fund at The Southern Cancer Center in Huntsville, AL. Each recipient received $1,500.00. We also worked with local pharmacies in Limestone County, which enabled Pink Lady Walk to credit four accounts (two at Limestone Drug Company and two at Athens Pharmacy). Each account received $250.00. Lastly, we provided $1,200.00 in emergency donations to community members facing economic hardships. Some of these hardships were a new breast cancer diagnosis and assisting with a shelter to prevent a medical crisis and homelessness. Lastly, we provided 100 cancer care packages to the cancer treatment facilities in Decatur, AL.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States. Statistics provided by the American Cancer Society states that Alabama is estimated to have 4500 new breast cancer cases this year; of those new cases, 720 people will die because of this deadly disease. 

We want our recipients to only concentrate on treatment and recovery while we help ease their burden of stress and worry. Please help us continue to make an impact in our community!
