Event Description

The Haunted Hollows 5K is the funnest and scariest haunted 5K on the planet! Start honing your survival skills, and run for your life as you encounter werewolves, psycho clowns, the hungry undead, and more. Those who are lucky enough to make it out ALIVE will be welcomed back with a costume PARTY (including a costume contest), local DJ, swag giveaways, and tasty goodies in our undead zone.

We have two race waves, the family friendly wave and the haunted wave. The family friendly wave begins before dark while the haunted wave will begin at the bewitching hour of dusk - when creatures start lurking, stalking their prey. The race will not be timed, so don't worry about being the fastest…you only need to be faster than the person behind you to stay alive.

Be afraid. Be very afraid...but running scared is more fun with friends, so grab a group of your wildest, craziest, goofiest, most adventurous friends and RUN for your life! The Haunted Hollows 5K is a fun run/walk focused on having some Halloween fun with friends and family, not who finishes first. It’s the perfect race for runners and ruckers of all different abilities, sizes, ages, shapes, personalities, and IQ levels.

Ready to test your agility? All haunted race wave runners and ruckers will be given a ribbon to attach to your costume or clothing. Make it to the finish line with your ribbon, and something sweet awaits you! Watch out for the creatures along the way who want to grab your ribbon away!

Some haunted zones will have flashing lights. If you are sensitive to or have a medical condition where you will be impacted by flashing lights, we urge you to sign up for the family friendly race wave.

• Age Limit - All ages welcome (minors under age 18 are permitted to participate as long as a parent/guardian is present throughout the entire duration of the event)

Rucking Division

In addition to a running division, we offer a rucking division. Rucking is walking with a weighted pack/ruck on your back. There is no minimum required weight to carry.

Course

The course runs along the Jordan River Parkway Trail and is all paved. 

5K Route with a water station at the halfway point. There are bathrooms at the start and finish line.

Parking

Parking is available in the parking lots and neighboring streets near the park.

Drawing Prizes

There will be a random bib number prize drawing. Prizes TBA.

Volunteers

We can't put on our races without the help of our amazing volunteers! Please consider signing up to volunteer. We need help with the following:

• Race setup and Post race teardown
• Same-day packet pickup
• Aid station
• Course monitors (so no one gets lost)
• Stage makeup professionals 
• Actors along our haunted race zones (you will be in full makeup and must sign an agreement not to touch any racers) and get to scare the you-know-what out of the racers.

All volunteers will receive a free entry to a future event. Set up begins at 3 PM on race day with tear down done by 11 PM. All we ask is you help out where and when you can. More information will be sent ahead of the event to all registered volunteers.

Virtual

Can't join us in person this year? Don't worry, you can participate from wherever you are throughout the month of October! Run, walk or ruck your own haunted 5K anytime, anywhere while still supporting an incredible cause. Virtual swag will start shipping in mid October 2023.
