Come celebrate Fall in New England! Along with the folliage, crisp air, beautiful lake scenery, apples, cider, donuts, and of course, pumpkins, there will be races for every age and ability. Sign up for the 5k Trail Run through the grounds of beautiful Winding Trails Recreation Center. The wide, relatively flat, clearly marked trail makes it a great run for anyone new to or just beginning trail running while still being interesting and scenic enough for grizzled vets. Or form a 3 person team and cover about a mile each along the same course as part of the 5k Team Relay. Kids under 12 can join in a half, or full mile fun run. Costumes are encouraged! Awards will be given to the top finishers in both 5k races along with special prizes given for Best Team Name, Best Costume, Best Sign, as well as a bunch of other fun categories. And every child who participates will receive a medal and some early Halloween treats and surprises!
All proceeds from this event will go to Sandy Hook Promise in support of their mission to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes, and communities. We hope you can join us for a fun day of running, family, and all things Fall in support of an amazing Organization and a great cause. Space is limited so please register early. When capacity is reached registration will be closed.

Sandy Hook Promise is a national nonprofit orgaization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. Based in Newtown, Connecticut, their intent is to honor all victims of gun violence by turning their tragedy into a moment of transformation. By empowering youth to "know the signs" and uniting all people who value the protection of children we can take meaningful action in schools, homes, and communities to prevent gun violence and stop the tragic loss of life.
To date, over 21 million people have participated in SHP’s Know the Signs program resulting in 501 confirmed lives saved through crisis intervention, 185 acts of violence with a weapon prevented, and 15 planned school shootings stopped.
