Event Description

On August 13th, 2023 this world lost one of its brightest lights, Scranton local Glenn Knott. Glenn was a combat Army veteran who selflessly served his country on the front line during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Even after separating from the military, Glenn continued to give himself to others. He was employed as a Social Worker at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center for many years prior to his death. All those who knew Glenn during his 35 years on earth considered themselves “lucky”. He was so well-loved, admired, and respected by everyone he crossed paths with. Glenn’s unexpected passing is felt by so many, including his wife of ten years, Ashley, and seven-year old son, Logan.

To honor Glenn’s memory and keep the goodness of his spirit alive, this inaugural event was created. All monetary proceeds will be donated to PA Wounded Warriors, a Pennsylvania-based organization that provides emergency financial assistance to Veterans and their families in crisis. They have assisted over 17,000 PA Veterans in need, including countless Veterans in our NEPA region. 

When: Saturday, May 25th, 2024. Both the race and the walk begin at 9:00 AM.

Where: Lackawanna Valley Heritage Trail

The race will start and end at the Scranton Half Marathon Pavilion/Olive Street Trailhead.

Day of the Race: The 5k race and 1 mile walk will both begin at 9:00 AM. The event is rain or shine.

Same day registration and packet pick up will be held from 7:30 - 8:45 AM at the Scranton Half Marathon Pavilion.

This is a family-friendly event, all are welcome!

There will be a cash-only basket raffle and bake sale open from 7:30 - 9:30 AM.
