Event Description
Join us Morgantown, WV on September 14th, 2024, or virtually all September long, for the 1st Annual Ruck Cancer 47K!
Why 47K?
Why 47K? Because we're raising support and awareness for the 47 Kids who are diagnosed with childhood cancer every day in the US. The Ruck Cancer 47K exists to help these kids and families carry the burden of a cancer diagnosis.
In-Person Event
To complete this unique event, you or your relay team will carry a "Ruck Cancer Backpack" along the 47 Kilometers (29.02 miles) of this out-and-back course on Decker's Creek Rail Trail. The Ruck Cancer Backpack is not heavy (less than 5 pounds), but it IS symbolic of the burden placed on victims of childhood cancer and their families.
Virtual Challenge
Virtual 47K Challenge participants will attempt to log 47K running/walking during the month of September, in honor of the 47 kids who are diagnosed with cancer every day in the United States, on average.
100% of Proceeds go to Charity.
All proceeds from the Ruck Cancer 47K go directly to WV Kids Cancer Crusaders (WVKCC). WVKCC is a Coalition to Unite and Fight Childhood cancer. They provide direct assistance to children and caregivers affected by childhood cancer in West Virginia. WVKCC also lobbies at state and national levels for improved treatment, access to treatment, and support for Childhood cancer victims. Learn more about WVKCC at https://wvkidscc.org
