Event Description

Please make plans to join us for this very special event…the Inaugural running of the “ML5K CommUnity Run” – Monday morning – January 15th – MLK Day – 10:00 AM 5K Run/Walk Start time!  This year 1 race, being run in honor of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is meant to bring our community together both in recognition of Dr. King but also in an effort to promote health and wellness in our own little corner of the world on this very special day!

In terms of race proceeds, each year, the ML5K Community Run/Walk 5K will benefit an individual or individuals experiencing health challenges, providing support for medical bills and related expenses. Additionally, proceeds will serve to benefit the MLK Bartow County Scholarship Fund, furthering education in the Bartow County community. 

This is a new race route we think you will love, utilizing a portion of the Sam Smith Park trail never before used for a 5K!  This is a rolling and scenic route that incorporates much of the surrounding beauty of Cartersville.  Please see the Race Route Map Below for a more detailed overview of the course. 

Registration Information:
*$30 Pre-Race Registration (through January 12th.) 
*$35 Race Day Registration Fee 
Register early to guarantee lower rates and your T-shirt size! 

5K Start-Finish & Race Day Parking:
*The 5K Start & Finish Lines are located on the track of Cartersville Middle School located at 825 Douthit Ferry Rd., Cartersville, GA.

*There is plenty of race parking in the Cartersville Middle School Parking Lot.  Additionally, overflow parking is also available in the Sam Smith Soccer Complex, behind Carterville Middle School (off of Milner Road just past the intersection of Milner Rd. and Walnut Grove Rd.)

*8:45 AM Race Day Registration / Packet Pick-up Opens 
*9:45 AM Race Day Registration Closes
*9:55 AM Pre-Race Announcements
*10:00 AM 5K Start
*11:15 AM Awards Presentation

Packet Pick up:  Packet Pick-up will be held Saturday, January 13th. From 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM at the Big Peach Running Company of Cartersville. Located at 402 E. Church St., Cartersville, GA 30121.

Awards:
Awards will be given to the following: 
*Top 3 Overall Male and Top 3 Overall Female Winners
*Top Master’s Male and Top Master’s Female Winners
*Top 3 Male & Female in the following Age Categories: 10-Under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & Over
