Event Description
The Eigth Annual Ride & Walk 4 Art on March 17, 2024 offers a wide variety of fun for everyone in West Calaveras County. This popular long-running Northern California event, organized by the Calaveras County Arts Council, has three bicycle ride choices—30, 45, and 70 miles—or a 4.5 mile walk along the shores of New Hogan Lake, a home-cooked lunch, and an art show at Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial Park in Valley Springs. In addition, this year there will be an art show!
Spring in Calaveras County shows off the Northern California Foothills to their best, and your ride will be through rolling green hills dotted with wildflowers and views across the Central Valley to Mount Diablo in the West and the High Sierra in the East. All three rides have hill climbs that are perfect for challenging yourself and getting into shape after a long winter.
Not a cyclist? The easy out-and-back trail (4 miles round-trip) alongside New Hogan Lake is for you. The trail is smooth, well maintained crushed gravel through meadows and oak groves with one incline to Wrinkle Cove. From there, you can return. Or you can extend your walk to the Marina and Acorn West Campgrounds to complete 10.7 miles out-and-back. You’ll have views of the lake and shoreline. Watch for deer, geese, and ducks along the way. If you’re lucky, you might see a bald eagle or osprey!
Dogs on leash welcome.
