Event Description

Welcome back to our Mark Forester JAG 28 Birthday Walk/Ruck.  Once again, it will take place in Haleyville, AL on May 18, 2024, in Mark's honor. Mark was KIA in Afghanistan September 29, 2010 during a firefight and while attempting to save a teammate. He was a patriot to the core.

The walk will begin 5:45 am and will be a continuous 28 miles in honor of Mark's retired call sign - Jaguar 28.

The route will begin and end at Haleyville High School. We welcome anyone who wants to participate. The entry fee is $40 and supports The Mark Forester Foundation.  Entry fee increases to $50/person on April 1.
Note: Active Duty Military and Haleyville City Schools employees entry fee is $20 and does not increase.

The walk will go thru mostly rural areas of hilly Winston County and parts of Lawrence County in the Bankhead National Forest.  We anticipate the event taking about 10.5 hours. There will be staging areas every 5 to 8 miles with water.  Bring your own snacks.  Lunch will be provided.

Note: if you are registering more than 1 person in the same family, we do offer a discount.  Please email us at: for registration guidance.
