Event Description
We have the privilege of working alongside Haddis Ministries, a non-profit organization that empowers orphan children in Gondar, Ethiopia. Their purpose is to serve the children in their program with love, providing essential resources such as nutritious food, clean water, healthcare, and educational materials. Their goal is to empower these children to pursue education and vocational opportunities, leading to self-sufficiency. They envision not only individual growth but also the transformation of entire communities as these children become leaders in their own right. Christ is at the center of this ministry. By demonstrating Christ-like characteristics, Haddis hopes to bring light to the lives of individuals. Additionally, they plan to support caregivers in income-generating activities to promote sustainability and empowerment further. The Avendano Family has sponsored Kindi since April 2022. All donations to this event will support Fasil Kindi. Josue Fidel Avendano is a DACA recipient student who runs Cross Country and Track for Southern Wesleyan University (SWU), inspired to promote help and education. With the help of the local community, Fasil Kindi is receiving care from Haddis Ministries. In the process, we hope this event will inspire others to sponsor a child for $43 a month. Fasil Kindi works as a shoe shiner to help support his mom after school. Additionally, he makes good grades and wants to become a doctor. With the help of SWU's faculty and staff, we were able to host the run at Southern Wesleyan University. SWU welcomes the community to take part in this event.
Awards will be given out to the overall male and female, following 2nd and 3rd place. The race starts and finishes at SWU's Cross Country Course (Field beside the front entrance of SWU). Time will be timed.
The run is $10 per person, and extra donations are always appreciated. Packets will be available on the morning of the race.
