Event Description

Run, walk, or stroll through the City of Newburgh in Safe Harbors’ annual charity 5K! With a course that features the incredible architecture of Newburgh’s historic district and stunning Hudson River views, this community-centered race is fun for runners and non-runners of all ages.

The 2024 Run for the Green will benefit Safe Harbors Green, a vibrant park on the corner of Broadway and Liberty that hosts an array of community events and performances throughout the year. From the weekly Newburgh Farmers’ Market to Salsa Under the Stars, outdoor movies to the annual RitzKidz Circus, Safe Harbors Green is a center of activity and community in Newburgh. 100% of event proceeds will support annual maintenance of the Green, capital improvements, and free summer programming in the park.

The 2024 Run for the Green is part of Spring Into Newburgh, a city-wide celebration of the season featuring special events, workshops, tastings, and the Art on the Block outdoor art market. Safe Harbors Green will host the Newburgh Farmers’ Market and Wellness Shines on the Green, a festival highlighting local wellness vendors and free fitness classes throughout the day. Come for the run and stay for the fun!

Registration

• Adults (18+): $35 in advance, $45 at event
• K-12 Students: Free!

All participants will receive a complimentary Run for the Green tshirt and race bib, as well as refreshments before and after the race.

• 7:30-8:30am Registration – Safe Harbors Lobby at the Ritz, 107 Broadway, Newburgh NY
• 9am Race Start
• 11am Awards Ceremony – Safe Harbors Green Outdoor Stage, Broadway and Liberty Street, Newburgh

Awards & Age Divisions 

All participants will be chip-timed by Catskill Timing and results will be posted on the event website. The fastest participants will be recognized in the following divisions:

• First through Third Overall - Female, Male, and Non-Binary
• First in Age Division - Female, Male, and Non-Binary:
  • Under 9
  • 10-14
  • 15-18
  • 19-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60-69
  • 70+
• First in Walking Division - all genders
• First in Stroller Division - all genders
• All Youth participants will receive a finishing prize!
