Event Description

Hello participants! Here is some logistical information for the Run/Walk/Roll:

Hope is where…YOU, the givers, are! This is a hybrid walk/run/roll hosted by Ray of Hope International Foundation ( to benefit our local partner, Inglis. Ray of Hope (ROH) is based in Philadelphia USA & focuses on access to healthcare, education and tech empowerment. ROH has raised more than $450k through various fundraising events (such as dance recitals, dinners, bowling, beauty, and fitness events) to help multiple partners in India and the USA.

Why Host a Run/Walk/Roll for Inglis?

Whether you’re taking a break from your tech to get out and move, or you just want to help those with disabilities in your community get access to technology, you can run, walk, or roll to support Inglis and its Assistive Technology Program! Inglis is a local nonprofit on the front lines during the pandemic fighting to keep individuals with disabilities safe and connected to the people and things that matter most.

Ray of Hope has been supporting Inglis' Assistive Technology (AT) program for several years. Our partnership has yielded some excellent results, always aiming to enhance independence for people with disabilities through technology. Not too long ago, we helped outfit their computer labs with eye-gaze technology, a device which enables a person to use eye movements to operate a computer, giving someone with limited mobility control of their technology to independently navigate the web, manage their personal finances, and stay connected with the world.

Ray of Hope is honored to be a leading partner in AT with Inglis, including founding members of their new Innovation Center AT Lab, which extends access to technology for people with disabilities living independently in the community.

Inglis provides access to cool and cutting-edge assistive technology solutions for people with disabilities, along with related services. These services include assessment, individualized goal setting, and education for people with physical and mobility disabilities.

How will this $ make an impact?

  • Empower people’s independence through AT assessment, training, and ongoing support, both throughout the community and at Inglis House, a skilled nursing facility in Philadelphia.
  • Maintain a range of current and emerging technologies in Inglis’ computer labs and AT Research & Design labs, including at Inglis House, and in Inglis’ two Innovation Centers in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
  • Help people stay in their homes by integrating AT into their home modifications to increase accessibility in Philadelphia and central PA.

How does assistive tech help the disability community? Imagine…

  • Using only the movement of your eyes to control a computer thanks to eye-gaze technology.
  • Navigating every aspect of your device with one switch, or button, using scan select technology.
  • Using a mouth stick – or holding a pencil in your mouth – to press the keys, buttons and computer workstations specially configured for your needs.
  • Creating original artwork using digital art software without  ever picking up a paint brush, pencil, or charcoal.
  • Controlling your home’s thermostat through voice-activated technology.

How is Inglis expanding access to Assistive Technology in Philadelphia and beyond??

  • Inglis’ Assistive Tech Solutions provides assessment, individualized goal setting, education, and other related services and supports for people with physical and mobility disabilities.
  • Inglis’ Research & Design program explores how 3-D printing can benefit people with disabilities, partnering with therapists and recreational professionals to design and deliver custom solutions.
  • Inglis’ Assistive Tech program is integrated across the Inglis Community, supporting people receiving employment, day program, and behavioral health services, as well as those enrolled in our home modifications program or who live in one of our thirteen affordable and accessible apartment communities.

How will these funds make an impact?

  • People with disabilities will gain access to personalized AT solutions and support.
  • Inglis will remain cutting-edge with the latest technologies that meet current needs while assessing emerging trends.
