Welcome to the inaugural Carolyn Pecorella Virtual Run 4 Life Fun-Run-Raiser!!
Get ready to lace up your sneakers and "join" us in this exhilarating race to support a cause that's close to our hearts. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just love to walk, jog, or roll, and you've been itching to make an impact this event is for you! In the spirit of Relay for Life, let's come together as a community to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against this disease.
Carolyn Pecorella. A young woman growing up in the 50s, a loving mother throughout the 2000s, gone too ever soon. 28 years and 11 months ago, she birthed me. A single mother who wanted a child. There are less than 5 weeks until I will be the date marking her 79th birthday. A few days before her passing, we took a picture in the dining room of the home she bought for us back in Fishkill, NY. We were celebrating my 20th birthday.
Never will we be able to take a picture like that again.
Never will we be able to together celebrate my birthday or her birthday.
At this point I would like to thank you for any sympathy you share in learning more about a story you may not have known much at all, or you've been around long enough to have heard before. [Either way] I'm participating in Relay for Life, I'm hosting this fundraiser, and I've shared this story as a reminder of exactly how close to home cancer hurts people. How it affects everyone. How we all know someone who has been affected.
But on April 23rd, 2024 (between 4/21-4/27) I'm asking you to Run for Life to honor and grieve with me in a way that has helped me cope these past 9 years, and to make a donation to Relay for Life, because after reading this - you know someone who has been directly affected by cancer.
This virtual race is a FUNdraiser for the Relay for Life of the Grand Strand, being hosted on May 4th, 2024 at Valor Park in the Market Common, Myrtle Beach, SC. On May 4th, I will Remember my mom and the loved ones of all the other participants.
