Event Description

Location: Lake Cumberland Imaging Center in MedPark

This race is to benefit Rachel’s Gift. This nonprofit organization was started by a woman who 8 months pregnant and go into a car wreck, she ended up losing her baby Rachel. She travels to hospitals around the US teaching nurses and physicians how to better care for mommas and families who are losing babies. She remembers what impacted her greatly during her loss such as the ICU nurse that held her baby to her face and chest and let her snuggle her baby even though she had already passed while momma was recovering from massive injuries. She also donates memory items to help us create lasting memories for these families because the only time they get with them is a day or two in the hospital. 

We want this race to be a healing atmosphere for mommas who have lost pregnancies through miscarriage, stillborn, even older children to see they are not alone. Let us celebrate the memory of these special children. I would love for them to be able to type something in a box for us to write on the luminaries so we can light up a place during the race for them. Hopefully racers who haven’t loss babies will still come and see the VA hill as a nice challenge.
