Carrera de los Muertos 5k

Head to Olvera Street and partake in the second annual Carrera de los Muertos / Run of the Dead. Day of the Dead focuses on celebrating the memories of loved ones that have passed on.
Tradition includes face painting to resemble skulls, decorating altars with bright orange marigold flowers, candles, photos and other memorabilia. There will be face painters on site and an official Runners Altar for participants to decorate.
This event offers a scenic 5k route on the historic streets of Los Angeles.
Parking
There are a few small parking spots near Olvera Street. If you are an early riser then these lots may have space for you. These lots are $13 for the day and due upon arrival.
For the majority of participants please use the GATEWAY CENTER GARAGE, attached to Union Station. Parking is just $6 for the day and is due when you exit the garage.

Overall Winner Awards
Unique Painted Skull Awards (painted by local artist Annette Armas) will given to overall winners in the 5k! For more of her work, go to HTTP://CJSANGELS.COM. In order to qualify as a contender for overall awards you must select and pay $5 for a timing chip.
Public Transportation
Take the METRO! We are also encouraging everyone to take the METRO. Union Station is across Alameda Street from El Pueblo/Olvera Street providing convenient access for all activities. The Red Line, the Gold Line, the Blue Line and the Green Line provide access directly to El Pueblo (and don’t have to worry about parking)!
