Event Description

The Mad Mallard 3, 6, and 12-hour trail race......AT NIGHT!

Have you ever wanted to try trail running? How about an ultra? How about AT NIGHT?

Do you have a long ultra coming and need some night training? Do you need to test out some night gear? This is your race!

Runners will start at 7 p.m.- that's right, 7 p.m., right before sunset- and run a 3-ish mile trail loop along the Duck River and through the cedar and hardwood forest of Henry Horton State Park for 3, 6, or 12 hours. The loop is completely runnable, with the majority being single-track dirt trails.

Although the course will be marked with glow sticks and reflective markers, you should still bring a headlamp or a light source.

We will have one aid station at the start/finish line stocked with snacks, cold water, and sodas open throughout the night.

This will be a laid-back, grassroots event. Family, friends, and spectators are always welcome. Pop a tent and stay for a while!

I've also heard rumors that the Scal-a-wag Trail Running Club will be hanging around to pace, motivate, and help out through the evening!

Each runner will receive a finisher's medal, and awards will be given to the runners who accumulate the most laps in the 3, 6, and 12-hour races.
