Event Description
A new addition to a historic race. Your challenge remains the difficult course that made the Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Trail 100 MTB famous, but now we are spreading it over three exciting days. It’s time to see what you’re made of. With a stage race format, you will be able to put the hammer down even faster and bring a team if you choose. You will get a chance to win daily prizes and maybe even wear the leader’s jersey on days two and three. In addition, there are many ways to gain entry into the sold-out LT100 MTB in August! Already in? This is the perfect training opportunity to get you race-ready by riding the same renowned course.
Think you're fast? Just beat Alban Lakata’s course record (5:58:35) time splits on any of the three stages and you automatically earn a spot in the LT100! If a relay is more your style, it’s time to pull together a couple ringers. A team can be 2-3 riders, each rider racing one of the days. The fastest team effort is also given a LT100 entry!

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The 100-mile out-and-back course is in the midst of the Colorado Rockies. Low point of 9,200 feet is located at the Twin Lakes dam. The high point is Columbine Mine, at 12,424 feet. The majority of course is on mountain two-track fire roads. A sub 12-hour finish time is required to be considered an official Stage Race Finisher.
Stage 1 — 42 miles
Start at the Lake County Rodeo Grounds and finish at Lost Canyon.
Stage 2 — 16 miles
Start and finish at Lost Canyon while climbing/descending Columbine.
Stage 3 — 42 miles
Start at Lost Canyon and finish at the Lake County Rodeo Grounds.

Transportation
The Leadville Stage Race start on day one is at the Lake County Fair Grounds which has plenty of parking available. The Stage 1 finish is located 20 miles south of Leadville at Lost Canyon. During registration, athletes are asked if you need a shuttle ride back to your vehicle at the Rodeo Grounds. Overnight secure bike storage is located at Lost Canyon and will be offered for all athletes including those riding the shuttle back to Leadville. Many racers will have people meeting them at the finish and not need a ride back to town. Stage 2 begins and ends at the same location, that being Lost Canyon. Athletes are responsible for their own transportation to Lost Canyon for Stage 2. Stage 3 will begin at Lost Canyon and finish at the Rodeo Grounds in Leadville. Shuttle service will offered during registration again for an additional $10, from the Rodeo Grounds at 6 a.m. out to Lost Canyon so that your vehicle will be located at the finish line after the race. Cost for the two-day event shuttle service is an additional $10.
All or part of this operation is conducted on Public Lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

LT100 MTB Qualification System
Each Leadville Qualifying Series race provides 25-100 qualifying slots to the Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Trail 100 MTB, based on the total number of registered riders at each qualifier event. Half of the qualifying spots will be allocated based on the top age-group performances and half will be drawn among riders who have finished the qualifier race within the allocated cut-off time.
Qualifying slots will be distributed at the Awards Ceremony. There will be 25-100 slots per qualifying event. Qualifying slot winners MUST BE PRESENT, as the roll-down qualifiers rule will be in effect at each event. All qualifier slots will be awarded and redeemed on race day. You must pay your entry to the LT100 when you accept your slot. You will have the option to register for the current year or the following year's LT100 and must decide when accepting your qualification slot. All entries into the LT100 are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

LT100 MTB Corral/Start Position
As one of the most well known mountain bike races on earth, getting into the Leadville Trail 100 MTB has always been difficult. LT100 Qualifiers are long and tough, with lots of climbing. They are similar to the classic course at Leadville in that they consist mainly of rugged jeep roads of gravel and dirt. A qualifier event could not only gain you entry into the LT100 MTB, but it could also boost your corral starting position in the Race Across the Sky!
Rider starting positions will be organized in color-coded corrals. These positions will be based on a finish time from the 2015 (year prior only) LT100 MTB race, a 2015 or 2016 qualifier event finish time, or if you hold a current USCI Pro Elite license. Please enter finish times or license numbers when prompted during the registration process. However, if you race a qualifier after previously gaining entry, you MUST email Abby Long at along@lifetimefitness.com to inform her of your finish time and she will then place you accordingly. You will not be placed automatically. Corrals will be assigned as follows:

Awards Ceremony
The Awards Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 26 at Lake County Rodeo Grounds. All awards and finisher medals will be presented at this time and must be picked up in person.

Cycles of Life
Cycles of Life is providing biking shipping service for the 2015 Leadville Stage Race event.
Trash and recycling
Our races are Zero Waste events. Look for recycle and compost bins at every aid station and start/finish. Please discard any trash in an appropriate container. Intentional littering on the course will be grounds for disqualification. The course—on trails both public and private—travels past many historic sites and through areas of exceptional beauty. Help us keep them pristine.
We will be recycling all plastic, aluminum and cardboard during these races, and all our events. We’ll take care of this at the aid stations. At the start/finish, please ensure you place trash or recyclable materials in the appropriate containers, which will be well marked.
Crew Information
It’s great to see you! Crews and spectators are treated and appreciated equally with the participants and are included in the Leadville Race Series family. Crew pets must be leashed and under control at all times. Crews are welcome at all aid stations except the turnaround. No crew bikes, please. Crews should allow adequate time to park and walk to aid stations. Crew vehicles are not allowed on any dirt road sections of the course. Riders are responsible for the actions of their crews. Crews and spectators will not be allowed to access the base of Powerline or obstruct the junction of the paved road and jeep road where riders leave Powerline to head for Pipeline.
Crews will certainly want to be at the 9 a.m. starts to assist their riders with any last-second needs cheer them on at the sound of the starting gun. Getting to Pipeline, crews should proceed south on Hwy 24 approximately 3 miles, then west on Hwy 300 for a little less than a mile to CR 11/CR 11A "Y" intersection. Follow the slow sweeping right turn on the pavement, uphill and west, onto the gravel road that goes through the gravel pit area. Riders will be on paved CR11, the same road as crews for about a mile, so please drive slowly and use every caution on this stretch of road. Please allow your rider to clear this checkpoint before crewing. Crews should then proceed back to Hwy 24 to Granite. Turn right (West) just past the Granite store. Follow this dirt road to the marked crew area and the Lost Canyon start/finish area.
Volunteers will direct the parking. This area gets very congested, so we ask your help and patience, and that you follow the instructions of the traffic control volunteers without question. Another way to access this crew area is to take: Hwy. 24, then south 11 miles. Turn west on Hwy. 82 for approximately 1/2 mile then left over the cattle guard toward the Lost Canyon (base of Columbine Climb) aid station.
There may be some riders without a crew who would appreciate your help. Remember, you may help a rider with any need, except that the riders must carry their own tools and personally perform all repairs or adjustments to their mountain bike. Crews may furnish the replacement parts.
There is absolutely no crewing or spectating at the Twin Lakes Dam!
