Event Description
The Sheman 2025 Ruck Challenge is raising funds for The Jordan Shemanski Foundation. A non-profit organization that provides support and resources to Veterans and civilians who are battling cancer in Northern Michigan. All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards a scholarship awarded to a college student for their fall semester. This year, we are opening up the criteria to all college students who are either living on their own or paying for college on their own. We have seen a higher need this last year to help support college students fitting these criteria, and we are here to help!
The Sheman is a 6-mile ruck challenge. Each year, family, friends, and multiple communities all come together to do something great in honor and remembrance of Staff Sergeant Jordan Shemanski. Jordan served in the United States Marine Corps on active duty for 12 years. After graduating boot camp at Paris Island in 2008, and completion of Basic Airborne school in Fort Benning, GA with his MOS Parachute Rigger 0451, Jordan reported for duty to 1st. MLG, CLR 17, Landing Support Company, 1st. Air Delivery Platoon. Deploying to Afghanistan in 2010 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and again with the 11th MEU aboard the USS MAKIN ISLAND. SSgt. Shemanski served with the Marine Special Operations Raider Regiment from 2013-2016, deploying once more to the Middle East in 2015. He served his last billet with the Marine Corps System Command as part of the Airborne Mobile Training Team. Providing Advanced Tactical Infiltration Techniques and Military Free Fall Tandem Instructor.
Sheman was a brother and a leader within the USMC. His honor and commitment reflected who he was as a man, and a Marine. In honor of Staff Sergeant Jordan Shemanski, we come together through hard work, discipline, camaraderie, and tradition; aiming to support others. Much of how Jordan lived his life.
The Sheman can be done remotely at your convenience, or in person at our Ruck event. Once registered, you are added to our Facebook group, where you can connect with other participants and the event. This is year 6 of The Sheman, help us make it a great one!
