Event Description
“Step by Step. Mile by Mile. Victory Through Perseverance.”
Join us this Homecoming Weekend for the inaugural Perseverance: The V Foundation 5K, a walk/run hosted on Centennial Campus at North Carolina State University. This event honors the legacy of Jimmy Valvano, a symbol of strength, resilience, and NC State pride, and supports the life-saving work of the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Whether you're a student, alumni, faculty, or community member, this is your chance to run (or walk) for a purpose. Together, our goal is to raise $5,000 toward the fight against cancer while building a lasting campus tradition rooted in service, legacy, and unity.
Featuring Special Guest Speaker: Brother Tony Knox, Past Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
A champion for men's health and cancer awareness, Brother Knox will share a powerful message about perseverance, advocacy, and community action. His presence will also help amplify the mission of PHEN (Prostate Health Education Network), an organization focused on prostate health and free cancer screenings in the Black community.
