Event Description

The Capt. James Lovell Space Walk & Run 5K honors the memory of the Naval Test Pilot (Class 20) who flew on Gemini 7 and 12, as command module pilot on Apollo 8, and mission commander of Apollo 13. 

Capt. Lovell passed away on August 7, 2025. 

The Spacewalk will support sending a local student to NASA’s Space Camp as well as the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum’s space and other programs.
