Event Description

RACE REGISTRATION:

The registration period is from Oct. 16 to Nov. 30 or until race limits are reached. Children are welcome to participate in one or both races. 

ELIGIBLE RUNNERS:

Boys and girls in grades K-8 who attend public & private schools, homeschools, and charter schools in southern St Johns County, including Elkton, Hastings, and these St. Augustine zip codes: 32080, 32084, and 32086.

COST:  FREE!!

WHEN:

  • Saturday, Dec. 6 starting at 8 am
  • Saturday, Dec. 13 starting at 8 am

DISTANCES:

The cross country course will start and finish on the large multi-purpose field and loop around the softball fields and pickleball courts.

  • Grades K-2 races will be 1/2 mile
  • Grades 3-5 races will be 1 mile
  • Grades 6-8 races will be 1.5 miles

RACE DAY SCHEDULE:

The below schedule is tentative; we will update it 1-2 weeks before each race day once participation numbers are confirmed. Please arrive at park 30 minutes early so your child can warm up and have them ready at the starting line 10 minutes before their race time.

  • 8.30 am:   K to 1st Grade Girls/Boys
  • 9.00 am:   2nd Grade Girls/Boys
  • 9.30 am:   3rd grade Girls/Boys
  • 10.00 am: 4th grade Girls/Boys
  • 10.30 am: 5th grade Girls/Boys
  • 11.00 am: 6-8th grade Girls
  • 11.30 am: 6-8th grade Boys 

HOW CAN YOU HELP:

  • Invite your children and others you know to join our December Introduction to Youth Cross Country Races; to join our youth cross country and track & field leagues; to join our special running events; and to join our youth running clinics and camps.
  • Volunteer with a family member or friend at our youth running events.
  • Donate to support the purchase of essential race equipment and cover event costs, allowing us to keep youth running events free. Our “Wish List” includes a new race timing system, small generator, inflatable finish line arch, and race event tents. 
  • Support our youth running programs by becoming a sponsor for one or more events. The level of your sponsorship will influence how we highlight your business. Benefits may include providing scholarships to young runners, showcasing your banner at youth running events, featuring your company name and logo on race shirts and promotional materials, and linking your website on our youth program page, among other opportunities. 

ABOUT HOST:

Ancient City Road Runners (ACRR) is a non-profit organization in South St. Johns County that is run entirely by volunteers. Our core values are:

  1. To provide group runs for our members
  2. Support our competitive and non-competitive members with their personal goals
  3. Offer mentorship and support to local youth runners via group runs, clinics, and camps
  4. Support local school cross country and track & field programs, and other youth running programs.    

Beginning in 2026, the ACRR Youth Program will offer FREE annual K-8 Cross Country and K-8 Track & Field seasons, running clinics, and summer running camps. The program is committed to ensuring that all activities and events remain free of charge for participants by securing funding through donations and sponsorships.
