Event Description
The BELOVED USA Walk is an effort to bring together the community in these challenging and divisive times because we all have way more that connects us than divides us. This open-to-all community walk on Saturday, Nov. 15, is unique in that it will begin at the Decatur Square and travel through 5 neighborhoods and 2 cities toward its finish in Candler Park. We will walk along the sidewalks and obey all traffic rules. There's no rush - it's not a race!
It’s reaching back to the idea of the Beloved Community where we all accept our differences and realize that we’re stronger because of our individuality that can help serve everyone. We walk, instead of running, so we can talk and get to know and learn from folks. Once you’ve met and talked with a neighbor, you can start to build an understanding of more points of view. This can make our erase the divisiveness that politics and social media tend to inflame.
Besides bringing folks together, all proceeds will help non-profits in our intown community who are working hard to make life better. Paint Love and Intown Cares are two of the non-profits we'll support with this walk. All walkers will get a t-shirt marking the event and we hope to spread more walks around Georgia and make it an annual ritual bringing folks together.
