Event Description

Indigenous-led Adventure Rides Make Cycling Accessible on The Gila River Indian Community. The ride goes through portions of the Gila River Indian Community home of the Akimel O’otham (Pima) and Pee-Posh (Maricopa) tribes. This is a group adventure ride, not a race and we will average around 10 miles per hour so pack a lunch and expect an all-day adventure if you are riding the 60 Mile Big Rez Gravel Route on January 18th or February 15th. If you can’t commit to the entire day you should choose the 25 Mile Little Rez Gravel Route on January 17th or February 14th. We will have to stay together because most of the Rez Gravel routes are closed to the public and require a Gila River tribal member to be with non-tribal members.

There are four fee options for each ride (Little Rez Gravel $20, $40, $60, $80 and Big Rez Gravel $30, $60, $120, $240) please choose the one that fits your budget. Funds raised will help Rez Gravel to continue the work helping residents of the Gila River Indian Community learn how to do bicycle repair and maintenance. Funds raised will go towards purchasing tubes, chains, other parts, tools and supplies as they are needed.

A Rez Gravel Dinner and Cultural Presentation will be on Saturday evening on January 17th and February 14th. There are two fee options ($30 or $60) again please choose the one that fits your budget. Menu will include foods grown on Gila River from Ramona Farms and prepared by a Gila River Caterer.

Camping: Van and Tent Camping will only be available for on Saturday and Sunday nights January 17th-18th and February 14th-16th $20 per vehicle for the weekend.
