Event Description

It is still winter in upstate New York! Come “Clean Up Your Skills” at the Osceola Tug Hill XC Ski Center with a sled riding clinic followed by a one day non-sanctioned sled and skijor race!

Schedule

Saturday, March 28: Sled Riding Clinic

  • Stations for sled riding skills (weave, S curve, drag mat use, pedaling, off camber trail riding, harness sizing, lines, equipment set up)
  • Ski/sled runner waxing clinic
  • Trail Set up for race
  • Silent auction! Bring cash!
  • Pot Luck Dinner (bring your own place setting, cups, silverware, napkins)
  • Analyze video footage from the day

NOTE: Trails will not be open for training on Saturday to preserve the snow for the race on Sunday.

Sunday, March 29: One day non-sanctioned race to test out your cleaned up skills!

  • Drivers’ Meeting at 9am
  • Race start time: 10am
  • 1.5 mile trail
  • Class Order:1 dog skijor, 2 dog skijor, 3 dog sled (first heat), 2 dog sled, Junior 2 dog sled, 3 dog sled (second heat)
  • Trail clean up
  • Awards and Thank Yous

Cost:

  • Primitive camping $15/night
  • Saturday clinics $15
  • Saturday property use fee $15
  • Race Classes: $15/adult class, $10/junior class
  • Sunday Trail Use Fee: $15 for 1 class, $25 for 2 classes, $30 for 3 classes

What YOU Need to Do:
Bring a learning and sharing attitude. Bring bags/shovel to clean up refuse from the weekend. Bring a dish to pass for the Pot Luck dinner on Saturday evening. Bring a prize (value approx $15-20) for your class. Prizes will be kept for those for the class. First place gets first pick, second place gets second pick, etc. Please also consider bringing something for the silent auction (new and gently used sled dog related items). Any juniors racing do NOT need to bring a prize; those will be provided.
