Event Description
5KforJK — Moving Together for Parkinson's
The annual 5KforJK is a family-friendly event that brings together people living with Parkinson's, their loved ones, and the broader community!
This year, there's a way for everyone to participate! Choose the challenge that's right for you:
🏃🚶 5K Run/Walk (Chipped & Timed):
Take on the full 5K course your way, run or walk, with official race timing and bibs for all participants. Whether you’re aiming for a personal best or walking alongside friends and family, you’re part of the full race-day experience.
💙 Keep Moving Walk (1 mile, Accessible Route):
A shorter, paved route designed for a more flexible and supportive experience, especially for those living with Parkinson’s or anyone who prefers a gentler pace. No matter how you move, every step makes a difference. The 5KforJK is the signature fundraising event of Changing Parkinson's, a nonprofit dedicated to helping Parkinson's patients live their best lives — lessening the fear of the disease through education, exercise, and community.
Why It Matters:
What started as a walk for one incredible woman — Jessica Krauser — has grown into a movement for many. Over the years, 5KforJK has raised over $350,000 to fund programs that are truly changing lives:
Changing Parkinson's Wish Kits: Thoughtfully created by Parkinson's patients, for patients, these kits deliver comfort, connection, and hope.
pDNextSteps Gym: A dedicated space and thriving virtual community built around Parkinson's-focused fitness, because movement is medicine.
The Secret Life of Parkinson's Podcast: Amplifying the voices and stories of those living with Parkinson's, so no one feels alone in their journey.
Every dollar raised, every mile walked or run, moves us closer to a stronger, more hopeful future — for patients, caregivers, families, and communities touched by Parkinson's. Lace up, show up, and keep moving. Together, we're changing what it means to live with Parkinson's!
