VCG - Freedom 5K (Friendswood) Nov 7th (7:30AM)

Serving Those Who Served!

Join us for the inaugural VCG - Freedom 5K (Friendswood), a fun, family-oriented Veterans Weekend charity fundraising event benefiting Veteran College Grants (VCG), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans and their families pursue college degrees, trade schools, technical certifications, and new career opportunities after military service. This inaugural event will be held annually on the Saturday before Veterans Day, this patriotic community event honors the men and women who served our country while helping raise educational grants and scholarships for veterans, spouses, and children.

Participants will start/end inside the park near gazebo and then enjoy a historic scenic run/walk through beautiful Old Town Friendswood beneath the city’s iconic oak trees. Whether you are running for a personal best, walking with family, pushing a stroller, or bringing your dog along, this event is designed for the entire community to come together in observance of Veterans Day. Right after the 5K, there is a Farmers Market event scheduled the same day in Stevenson Park. 

Event Details:

• Location: Stevenson Park (White Gazebo)
• Race Start: 7:30 AM
• Check-In: 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM
• Parking: Available at Friendswood City Hall and the Main Parking lot

The race will be professionally chip timed by Run Houston Timing and will feature a professional inflatable start/finish line with digital race clock display. Results will uploaded to RunSignup accounts and Veteran College Grants events page. 

Participants Receive:

      • Gold Finisher 5K Medal
      • Official Race Bib
      • Ultra Soft Performance Event Shirt (First 300 registered participants are guaranteed their selected shirt size)

Registration:
• Adults: $35 - Fundraising Encouraged
• Children under twelve: $20 - No Fundraising

As a charity fundraising event, participants are "encouraged", but never required to help raise support for veteran families through personal fundraising efforts. Even small donations from friends, family, and coworkers can help provide educational grants for veterans, spouses, and children pursuing new career opportunities after military service.

Participants who wish to go the extra mile are encouraged to set a personal fundraising goal of $100 or more in support of the mission.
