Event Description
Lace up your sneakers, put on your step tracker, and get moving! Dyspraxia DCD America's Summer Steps Challenge is a weeklong, step counting competition. You will track your steps each day and add them to your race profile. Follow everyone's progress and compete for first place! Our top three steppers will win gift cards, and all of our participants will spread awareness of Dyspraxia/DCD and Dyspraxia DCD America!
Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), commonly known as Dyspraxia, is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects fine and/or gross motor skills, including motor planning and execution. Dyspraxia/DCD affects 5 to 6% of the population (Blank et al., 2019). Despite being almost as common as ADHD and more common than Autism, it is unfamiliar to many parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals in the United States.
Dyspraxia DCD America was founded by Danielle Rosenberg, after years of struggling to find appropriate support for her son. Dyspraxia DCD America raises awareness, provides support, and advocates for those impacted by Dyspraxia/DCD in the United States. This year, our foundation introduced a financial grant program to assist families seeking an assessment and Dyspraxia/DCD diagnosis for their child. The funds raised will allow us to award grants to multiple families this year and in the future!
