Event Description

Consistently ranked by local triathletes as one of the top three triathlons in this triathlon-crazy state, the YWCA Women’s Tri consistently pulls over 1000 women in every year from hundreds of first-timers to the state’s elite.

Unique elements include free training plan, free clinics, training classes, “buddy” waves, family and first-timer awards, novice swim caps, “noodle” swimmers, the ever-popular "Friends and Family Finish Zone" and a green tradition that boasts a very low waste rate (93% of waste is diverted to compost and recycling).

The YWCA Women’s Triathlon starts with a swim in popular Lake Nokomis, bikes the parkway roads along the bluffs of the Mississippi river and finishes with a run on the paths around Lake Nokomis.  Two distance options include the Sprint (500yd swim/15.5mi bike/5K run) and the SuperSprint (200yd swim/7.3mi bike/1mi run).
