Event Description
Come run our inaugural event in honor of Coach Frank Captain. An avid runner for years and a coach passionate about encouraging young people, Frank spent countless hours coaching track and cross country. He loved seeing his team work hard, improve and succeed even if it was just a small accomplishment. He taught his runners to believe in themselves and to have fun at a sport that challenged them. This Memorial Race celebrates his love of running and the legacy he leaves behind, in Chelsea, the town he called home.
Come run our brick-paved streets in our beautiful town on historic Route 66 and stay for our 91st Annual Jamboree. Journey under Historic Route 66 in the Route 66 Underpass; tour our new Chelsea Area Historical Museum; visit Pryor Creek Bridge (built 1926), the last remaining unaltered “Modified Pratt through Truss” bridge standing in America; learn about Oklahoma’s first oil well (1889); and see the Sears & Roebuck House—ordered by catalogue and delivered by railway in 1912. Get your kicks on Route 66, stay for our post-race breakfast, and then enjoy some small-town Jamboree fun!
All proceeds to benefit Coach Captain’s passion, Chelsea Public Schools Cross Country teams.
