Event Description
Join us for the Check My Flow 1st Annual 5K Walk/Run/Bike Event on Sunday, September 6, 2026, along Chicago’s stunning lakefront as we honor survivors, remember lost loved ones, and take action against preventable blood clot conditions. Staged out of Grove 19 in Jackson Park (just south of 63rd Street Beach by the basketball courts), the course features a smooth 3.1-mile loop heading north along the scenic Lakefront Trail to 55th Street before returning directly back to the finish line at Grove 19. Check-in and registration open on-site at 8:15 AM, followed by a staggered start timeline to keep the trail safe and clear: cyclists launch at 9:00 AM, while walkers and runners step off exactly one hour later at 10:00 AM.
This event is more than a race—it is a live public health movement to combat the silent crisis of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolisms (PE). Blood clots are preventable and treatable, yet thousands suffer needlessly due to diagnostic delays and medical dismissal, particularly young adults and expectant mothers facing maternal health disparities. Every registration fee and donation directly supports the Check My Flow Blood Clot Foundation, fueling our Diagnostic Scholarship Fund to cover steep out-of-pocket medical imaging costs for underinsured patients in crisis. Crucially, funds also support our dedicated medication scholarship program, which provides direct financial aid for life-saving blood thinner prescriptions to uninsured individuals and seniors who have lost critical Medicare coverage under recent healthcare legislation. Whether you bring your bike, your running shoes, or your walking crew, join us to shatter healthcare disparities, ensure no one is forced to skip essential medication, and help end preventable blood clot deaths together!
