Event Description

Walk a Mile in Their Shoes is a cornerstone of our Paint Atlanta Purple initiative, held each October in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Each year, advocates, survivors, corporate teams, families, and supporters from across the country come together to raise awareness, honor survivors, remember those we've lost, and stand united in the movement to end domestic violence.

This year, we're excited to offer both in-person and virtual participation, making it easier than ever for supporters everywhere to get involved. Whether you join us in Atlanta or participate from your own community, every step you take helps shine a light on domestic violence and demonstrates that survivors are never alone.

Join Us In-Person: Saturday, October 3 | Atlanta, GA

Experience the energy and impact of our 5K Run/1-Mile Walk in the heart of Atlanta! Check-in and on-site registration begin at 7:00 am at Park Tavern, adjacent to Piedmont Park. Participants will enjoy a scenic course along the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail

Whether you're racing for a personal best, walking in honor or memory of someone affected by domestic violence, or simply showing your support, your participation makes a meaningful difference.

Bonus for runners: The in-person 5K is an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race qualifying event, and the course is USATF Certified (GA22048WC).

Participate Virtually: October 1–7

Can't make it to Atlanta? Join us from wherever you are! Between October 1 and October 7, complete the activity of your choice at your own pace. Walk, run, bike, hike, swim, dance—or choose any activity that gets you moving while supporting survivors and raising awareness during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

After completing your challenge:
