Event Description

You won’t hear anyone say this is an average 5K! Don’t let the distance fool you. The El Cerrito Hillside Vertical Challenge will have you scaling more than 800 ft. in under a mile, making this short trail race a run your legs won’t soon forget. The second event in the Scena Performance 2016 Vertical Challenge Series will take your breath away in more ways than one- first with the crazy steep climb, then with spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay at the top to reward your exertion.

The El Cerrito Hillside Vertical Challenge will be a treat for those just discovering the hidden trails of the relatively unknown Hillside Natural Area. We’ll start and finish in Castro Park, with plenty of green space to relax and take in your accomplishment while enjoying recovery snacks and our soon-to-be-famous chocolate milk.
