Event Description

The Snowy Owl Trail Race is a 5 mile trail race through the sweeping trails, overlook, mountaintops, and waterfronts of the Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem NY on Sunday, December 13, 2026.

The course starts and ends in the Yurt Village at Camp Morty inside the park. The village features a large firepit with an amphitheater that will serve as the gathering spot for runners before and after the race. The fire pit will have a roaring fire going to warm people up.

The race will support trail projects at Mountain Lakes Park. The park has over 10 miles of trails on its 1000+ acres. It also abuts and joins with trail systems from four other parks - two in North Salem NY and two in Ridgefield CT. This extends the trail system to nearly 14 miles. 

Given that this race is in the winter season there is always the potential for a snowstorm which may throw a wrench into the race plan. In the event of a winter storm on race day the park and organizers may determine the race must be postponed or cancelled. Runners will have a choice of a race transfer or refund. A bit of snow on the ground will not cause the race to be cancelled or postponed.
