Event Description

In partnership with A5 Events, Students Run LA is proudly hosting The SRLA 18-mile Friendship Run.  The SRLA 18-mile Friendship Run takes place at the Hansen Dam Recreation Park in Sylmar, on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at 8:00 am. Our 3,500 students will be there with their volunteer teacher/leaders. There will be timing, finisher t-shirts, a medal, water, and snacks provided. The students will be taking on the distance of 18 miles completing this challenging course.

Students Run LA uses the process of training for the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon to teach our students how to set a goal and work hard to complete it. Over the 7-month training period the students learn how to transfer these skills into their education and their lives. This race (and SRLA in general) is not competitive. SRLA’s motto is “complete NOT compete.” So there will be no overall or age group awards for this race.

The 18-Mile Friendship Run is the premier training race for the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon.

The 18-mile course consists of two 9-mile loops starting in the Hansen Dam Recreation Area. The course travels along streets that are closed to traffic and, then, crosses the two-mile dam. After the second loop, the run finishes in the park. Water stations and toilets will be available throughout the course, except on the dam. Water stations will be located before the dam and after exiting the dam.
