Event Description

Registration will close midnight, Sunday April 22 and there will be limited Day Of sign ups.  MAKE THIS A WEEKEND EVENT!  Experience the 15th Annual “Tour de Lopez”. This ride is a non-competitive rural road tour with marked short and long routes  (3.1, 5, 10, 18 and 31 miles), on public county roads through the scenic landscape of Lopez. Come enjoy Lopez Island in the spring. Besides the ride, BBQ and music on Saturday, you can enjoy the 5th Annual Bite of Lopez and other local activities on Friday.  Be sure to register early as this is a sell-out event with limited registration. 

 

The tour routes are marked with our unique recycled bicycles with designated rest areas with snacks, water and restrooms available. Your ride will conclude with a BBQ lunch from 11:30am-3pm at Lopez Center for Community and the Arts. For those on a day trip, the ride back to the ferry landing is about 4.5 miles from the Village.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

 

No minimum age - the whole family is welcome.  Participants under 18 will need their waiver signed by a parent or guardian. 

 

What's the refund policy?

 

Life gets in the way of even the best laid plans. Refunds are available up to April 15th,  if you have to cancel because of a change of plans, illness or injury.  However, this event goes on rain or shine.  There are no refunds due to weather. 

 

How do I get to Lopez?

 Washington State Ferries is the place to start. Reservations for ferry travel are recommended for this event.  Reservation space is released in tiers. Two months before the start of the season, one-third of reservations for all sailings for the entire season are released. Two weeks before any sailing date another one-third is released, and two days before any sailing date the final one-third is released. A total of 90 percent of vehicle spaces on each sailing will be available for reservations. Space is always released at 7:00am.  The spring schedule begins April 1, so spots will first become available   February 1.  More spots then become available 2 Weeks and 2 Days advance of your date of travel.  That means additional spaces for April 28 will become available April 14, and April 26 at 7:00am.  There are no reservations available for departing Lopez Island. 

 

 

 

Event details and schedule

There will be two locations for check-in again this year: For those on a day trip check-in for the ride will be at Odlin County Park upon your arrival – a short ride from the Lopez Ferry landing.  For those already on-island, you can check-in at Lopez Community Center in Lopez Village, Friday afternoon prior to the Bite of Lopez or Saturday morning.  You can begin your ride from the Center. Your all-important lunch voucher will be given to you at check-in at either location, as well as a route map and details about the days' ride.

The tour routes include marked designated rest areas with snacks, water and restrooms available.

Registration fees include lunch are: $50 adults, $30 Youth 12 & under, and $130 per family (2 adults, 2 youth).  Lunch only for non-riders is $15/person.

Christa Malay, renowned artist and Lopez resident, has designed original artwork for this event. Her work has been incorporated into commemorative posters, T-shirts etc., that will be available for sale at the event.

Music and a beer garden will be provided during your lunch for your enjoyment.

Tour De Lopez is hosted by the Lopez Island Chamber of Commerce with support from our generous business sponsors. Proceeds from the event are used to support the Lopez Chamber activities including maintaining the grounds of the Lopez Village Park, its restrooms and shower facilities.
