Event Description

One of the top 5 longest running triathlons in the world, the Carlsbad Triathlon course begins at Tamarack Surf Beach, and follows the coastline of Carlsbad, past scenic beaches, lagoons and a wildlife preserve. This triathlon boasts a sprint and sprint plus distance.

This race is for everybody: from first-timers to the elites, and their friends and family! The race is done in heats begining with an open-water ocean swim, which is well-marked with buoys. The swim is followed by a bike course, and the race finishes with a run along the beautiful Pacific Ocean coastline. The roads are wide and completely closed to traffic. The course is mostly flat with a couple of rolling areas.

Saturday June 8 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Pine Avenue Park 3333 Harding Street in Carlsbad
Sunday - Day of race: starting at 5:30 AM till 6:30 AM

10:45 AM     Course Closed. All athletes not finishing by this time will be pulled from the course per Carlsbad PD

Event Details

PRE-RACE CHECK IN POLICIES:

All athletes must attend ONE pre-race check-in to pick up their race materials (FRI or SAT). Athletes who do not or can't attend FRI OR SAT (and have not selected the VIP Option - more info below) will be required to pay a $10 late fee on race morning in order to pick up packet materials. 

It is mandatory for all athletes to bring their ID to the pre-race check in. We will not give any athlete their bib number without an ID. 

You must sign both waivers below to get race materials.

You will also be required to show proof of USAT annual membership or purchase a one day membership (if you haven't already purchased a one day with us through registration).

Friends and family members will NOT be allowed to pick up for an athlete. Sorry NO EXCEPTIONS.  These events are USAT sanctioned and USAT doesn't allow anyone besides the participant to pick up race materials.

Special Note: If there are extreme weather conditions including, but not limited to, high surf, strong rip currents, or poor visibility due to fog, the swim portion of the race may be canceled. The triathlon would then transition into a run-bike-run. The California State Lifeguards will assess the water conditions the day of the race. Safety of all participants is our priority.

Note: Participants who will not finished the race by 10:45 a.m. will be required to exit the course. This will be strictly enforced by the Carlsbad Police Department.
