Packet Pick-up:

Packet pick-up will be Friday August 10th 4pm to 6pm at the White Pine County Aquatic Center Conference Room. It is highly encouraged everyone please pick up your packet in advance. To help with this process participants will be allowed to have family members or other participants pick up packets. Email mbrown@whitepinecountynv.gov if you are unable to pick up your packet at this time or have any questions.

 

Race Day Agenda and Morning Meeting Details:

Parking will be available at White Pine County Aquatic Center and White Pine High School for the day of the race. Participants will be allowed to drop off their equipment in the transition area, located on the road adjacent to the Aquatic Center, between 7:30am and 8:30am. All cars will be removed from transition area road at 8:30am. The adult race will begin at 9:00am. The morning meeting will be held at exactly 8:45am in the transition area. The race for kids 8-16 years of age will begin at 10:30am followed by the Tiny Tikes Race, ages 4-7 years, at 11:00am.

 

Race Description

Racing Requirements: All Swimmers must wear the provided racing caps. If you do not wear the provided racing cap then you will not be allowed to race. Swimming Fins and snorkels will also not be allowed during the swimming portion of the race. Bike drafting will not be allowed during the biking portion of the race and all participate will be required to wear a helmet.

 

Timing Chip and Body Marking guidelines: Each individual participant (adult race only) will be given a timing chip at packet pick up. In addition to bib identification individuals will also have their bib number marked on the arm to help identify them throughout the race.

 

Swim Caps: There will be a race day swim cap provided for each participant in their welcome packet. It is required that all swimmers use this swim cap during the swimming portion. No Cap = No Swim

 

Swim: 300 yard INDOOR pool swim. The swimming portion of the race will begin with a time trial start in waves 15 seconds apart. Time trial starts will be based off of estimated finishing times, if you would like to complete a time trial you may visit the aquatic center the week of 8/5/18 to complete such free of charge.  Each swimmer will enter the pool feet first and do a push start. Each swimmer will complete a 50 yard swim in each lane using a circle swimming pattern. After completing their 50 yards the swimmer leading will move under the lane line to the next lane followed by the remaining swimmers to continue their laps. See the map on the next page. In the case of needing to pass a swimmer the passing swimmer will tap the swimmer ahead of them after which this swimmer will stop at the wall and allow the passing swimmer to continue ahead of them. During the Kids and Tiny Tikes race if a child needs a lifejacket to participate they will be allowed to wear one.

 

POOL MAP:

 

Bike: The 12 mile bike will begin in the transition area after the swim portion of the race. The bikers will depart from the transition are and travel to Bobcat Drive, east to Mineral Drive, up the top of Mineral drive and back down to the intersection of Route 50 and Mineral Drive. The route will follow Route 50 to Madison Ave, this section of the race is on a state highway and will travel with traffic. Spotters will be provided to help control this section of the race to insure safety to our riders. Bikers will continue on Madison Ave to California Ave to Grant Ave to Pennsylvania Ave to 13th Street. At 13th Street and Ave M bikers will travel on Ave. M to 16th Street to Ave. G and then back to 13th Street. Bikers will follow essentially the same route to return to the transition area adjacent to the Aquatic Center to begin their run. There will be a first aid/water station at the turn around on Mineral drive as well as Ave. M and 13th Street.
