LEADVILLE STAGE RACE
JULY 27 – 29th, 2018

Buckle up! The Leadville Stage Race takes the course of the historic Leadville Trail 100 MTB and spreads it over three exciting days. Riders get the chance to win daily prizes and maybe even wear the leader’s jersey on days two and three.

EVENT SCHEDULE

Friday, July 27
7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Packet pickup and mandatory racer check-in at Lake County Rodeo Grounds
9:00 a.m. RACE START
12:00 p.m. Shuttles begin transporting athletes back to Lake County Rodeo Grounds (NO BIKES ALLOWED ON SHUTTLES). Overnight bike storage provided at Twin Lakes Dam.
4:00 p.m. ‐ 6:30 p.m. Post-race meal, entertainment and a daily award ceremony at the Sayer McKee Building, 615 Harrison Ave.

Saturday, July 28
7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Mandatory racer check-in at Twin Lakes aid station
9:00 a.m. RACE START
4:00 p.m. ‐ 6:30 p.m. Post-race meal, entertainment and a daily award ceremony at the Sayer McKee Building, 615 Harrison Ave.

Sunday, July 29
6:00 a.m. & 7:30 a.m. Shuttles transport athletes from Lake County Rodeo Grounds to Twin Lakes Dam. NO BIKES ALLOWED ON SHUTTLES.
7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Mandatory racer check-in at Twin Lakes aid station
9:00 a.m. RACE START
11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Expo and post-race party (Lunch, music and beer) at the Lake County Rodeo Grounds
2:00 p.m. Awards ceremony

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The 100-mile out-and-back course, split into 3 stages, in the midst of the Colorado Rockies. Low point of 9,200 feet is located at the Twin Lakes dam. The high point is Columbine Mine, at 12,424 feet. The majority of course is on mountain two-track fire roads. A sub 12-hour finish time is required to be considered an official Stage Race Finisher.

Stage 1 — 42 miles
Start at the Lake County Rodeo Grounds and finish at TwinLakes.

Stage 2 — 16 miles
Start and finish at Twin Lakes while climbing/descending Columbine.

Stage 3 — 42 miles
Start at Twin Lakes and finish at the Lake County Rodeo Grounds.
Distances subject to change.

Aid Stations
Stage 1: Carter Summit aid station at mile 10 and Pipeline aid station at mile 28.
Stage 2: Columbine aid station at mile 8.
Stage 3: Pipeline aid station at mile 13.5 and Carter Summit aid station at mile 18.

Transportation

On Day 1, the Leadville Stage Race starts at the Lake County Rodeo Grounds, which has plenty of parking available. The Stage 1 finish is located 20 miles south of Leadville at Lost Canyon. Stage 2 begins and ends at the same location, Lost Canyon. Athletes are responsible for their own transportation out to Lost Canyon for Stage 2. Stage 3 begins at Lost Canyon and finishes at the Lake County Rodeo Grounds.

Shuttle service is available from Lost Canyon back to the Lake County Rodeo Grounds on Day 1 and from the Lake County Rodeo Grounds out to Lost Canyon on Day 3. The optional two-day shuttle cost is $10 and can be purchased during registration

All or part of this operation is conducted on Public Lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

This event is held on the San Isabel National Forest under a special use permit.
