Event Description

MAMMOTH GRAN FONDO - A TOP-RATED GRAN FONDO BIKE RIDE

For 22 years the Mammoth Gran Fondo has been a top-level cycling event in an amazing landscape.  For 2016, we are adding a timed KOM/QOM section of the Gran Fondo and please to announce the over 3/4 of the Gran Fondo course will be closed to vehicle traffic! As high-end and top-rated Fondos go, we believe the Mammoth Gran Fondo is one of the best road cycling events anywhere in the United States and at $89, it may also be the best Gran Fondo value anywhere in the world!

As the old High Sierra Fall Century, this ride was chosen as a "Top-Ten Century" bike ride by Bicycling Magazine (June 2012) for its "Jaw-Dropping Vistas," and considered on-par with Levi's Gran Fondo in Santa Rosa, CA, by Road Bike Action Assistant Editor, Neil Shirley. The Mammoth Gran Fondo is a "Bucket-List" ride that takes you along the spectacular east side of the High Sierra mountains with awesome views of the Sierra Nevada Range, Mono Lake and the White Mountains.

Situated to the east and south of Yosemite National Park in Mono County, CA, the Mammoth Gran Fondo bike ride traces an amazing route through what has been called by some "the accidental national park."  Enjoy beautiful riding along this serene 102 mile route that includes good pavement, very few stop signs and minimal traffic.

The 42 mile "Piccolo" and 70 mile "Medio" short course options offer a slightly later and more relaxed starting time, but equally spectacular scenery on great roads.  Your ride pictures are free at the finish area at "The Village" in Mammoth Lakes and don't miss the great after-ride buffet meal, entertainment and the Mammoth Gran Fondo Expo. See you in September!
