2016 CVC San Diego Half Iron Triathlon - Athlete Guide
The Chula Vista Challenge (CVC) in its 6th year is proud to announce a new partnership with KOZ Events, San Diego's premier endurance event producers and Pulse Endurance Sports. Expect new routes and a fresh new race experience for individuals and relay teams, with 10 races to choose from including International, Sprint, & Youth Triathlons, Duathlon, Aqua Bike.
NEW HALF DISTANCE TRIATHLON! 70.3 MILES
The 70.3 Mile HALF DISTANCE course deemed The CVC SAN DIEGO HALF, will provide San Diego triathletes as well as regional, national and international athletes a chance to compete in a longer endurance event. The Half will be limited to 200 athletes so early registration is encouraged. We also offer a Half Distance in the Aquabike category.
THIS TRIATHLON IS DESIGNED FOR A WHOLE DAY OF FUN FOR RACERS, FRIENDS AND FAMILIES!
All the courses have been redesigned to make this event Super Athlete and Spectator Friendly. All race distances, the HALF, INTERNATIONAL, SPRINT AND KIDS events will start and finish at Bayside Park on Sunday August 14, 2016. The park will host the Swim Start, the Transition Area, the Hot Lap corners for the run and bike, Expo, Kids Fun Zone, and end with a Beach Party Finish line featuring a Beer Garden and Mexican Food.

The CVC San Diego Triathlon is part of the San Diego Triathlon Series - Points Competition. There 5 Triathlons in which to compete and earn points towards being crowned the winner. To learn more about the point series see www.SDTriSeries.com

This is a USAT sanctioned event, all participants are to follow USAT rules at all times while on event site. Helmets are mandatory and must be securely fastened before mounting bicycle. USAT requires all participants to have a current USAT membership card with them at packet pickup or participant will be required to purchase a one day USAT membership to pick up their race packet.

- All athletes must attend the ONE pre-race check-in to pick up their race materials (FRI or SAT). All relay members must be present to receive the packet, or we will split up the relay packet for each participant.
- It is mandatory for all athletes to bring their ID to the pre-race expo. We will not give any athlete their bib number without an ID.
- You must sign two waivers to get race materials.
- You will also be required to show proof of USAT annual membership or purchase a one day membership (if you haven't already purchased a one day membership with us through registration).
Friends and family members will NOT be allowed to pick up for an athlete. Sorry NO EXCEPTIONS. These events are USAT sanctioned and USAT doesn't allow anyone besides the participant to pick up race materials.
***. Athletes who do not or can't attend FRI OR SAT (and have not selected the VIP Option-more info below) will be required to pay a $10 late fee on race morning in order to pick up packet materials. Late packet pick up on race morning is available starting at 5:40am near the race start.
