Event Description

Run or walk along the San Francisco Bay Trail and enjoy breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay-Estuary. Participate in a 5K or 10K. Proceeds from this event help to maintain and enhance the educational programs, exhibits, and facilities of the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, specifically in the creation of the Janice and Frank Delfino Wetland Habitat Room.

 

FINDING US:

We are located at 4901 Breakwater Avenue in Hayward. Take the Clawiter/Eden landing Road exit off of Highway 92. Go straight at the light, crossing Clawiter Road. Make a left after the 76 Station. Follow Breakwater Avenue parallel to the freeway. Follow the signs and make another left onto Breakwater Avenue. Follow signs for parking.

 

PARKING:

The west end of Breakwater Avenue will be closed on race day. You will be directed to park in the business center off of Breakwater Avenue about a half-mile from the Interpretive Center. Two shuttle vans will be going up and down the street between 7:15am and 8:20am to take people to the registration area. You can take a �cool down shuttle� or a �warm up walk� to the Center. If you decide to walk to the Interpretive Center, please stay right on the marsh side in the designated area to allow the shuttle to use the road. Please obey all posted parking signs.

 

SHUTTLE:

As previously mentioned there will be two shuttles from the parking area. Please wait at "shuttle van pick-up" signs for the driver to pick you up and drop you near the starting line.

 

REGISTRATION OPENS AT 7:30am:

Registration opens at 7:30am. Check in at the registration tables located near the flagpole to pick up your timing chip and bib. Pre-registered racers/runners can go to T-shirt pick up before or after the race to get your event T-shirt. T-shirts CAN BE RESERVED AND HELD for you to pick up after the race. Pre-registered participants are guaranteed a T-shirt until 9:30am after which, we will make them available to on-site registrants as well.

 

SWEAT CHECK/BAG CHECK:

The T-shirt and information tables will also serve as bag check. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please do not check anything valuable.

 

START TIMES:

5k Race will start at 8:30am.  The starting line is roughly a 10 minute walk on the trail from the Interpretive Center.  10k Race will start at 8:40am.  The 10k starting line is directly next to the building on Breakwater Ave.

COURSE:

The course is an all-weather, packed dirt trail that is narrow in parts. The shoreline is wildlife habitat for many native squirrels. Every attempt will be made to cover and mark squirrel holes for your safety.

 

RESTROOMS:

·      7 Port-o-Potties at the trailhead at the shuttle drop off

·      6 Port-o-Potties at the 10K starting line

·      2 restrooms inside the Interpretive Center

·      1 Port-o-Potty at the West Winton trailhead

 

WATER

Please bring a refillable water bottle. In an effort to reduce waste, bottled water will not be available. All water will be served from coolers. Compostable cups will be provided. Please ensure compostable cups are disposed of in compost receptacles. There are two water stations along the course. Refreshments are also available at the Interpretive Center after the race; fruit, trail mix, etc. This year there will be hot food donated by Ajinomoto Windsor Foods.

 

AWARDS CEREMONIES:

Join us to recognize race winners on the back deck of the facility. 5K ceremony: 9:45am and 10K ceremony at 10:15am.

 

FINISHERS CERTIFICATES:

These are available online after the race at RunSignUp.
