Event Description

WVW Be a S.T.A.R. (Showing Tolerance and Respect) is committed to promoting kindness at the High School, at the same time as helping to prevent bullying in our school and community.  Bullying can leave deep emotional scars that last a lifetime. It is a serious issue that occurs throughout our schools every day and without interventions bullying can cause an increase in absenteeism, a decline in academic performance, decreased confidence, self-harm, drug & alcohol abuse and school violence, to name a few.

This Run Walk Roll is the first annual event locally, held during National Bullying Prevention month in conjunction with Pacer.org.  The goal of the event is to promote awareness about bullying and show support for those who have been bullied, as well as to raise money in our district to bring motivational speakers and programs to our school to combat the issue of bullying.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 13th at Kirby Park, Wilkes-Barre, PA. The Run Walk Roll is a 5K time-chipped run and a 1-mile fun walk and roll beginning at 9 am.  There will be opportunities to have fun, have refreshments, and learn more about bullying, its effects and how to help put a stop to it.

Online registration closes on October 6th at 11:59 pm.  You may register via mail or on the day of the race beginning at 8 am.  Hope to see you there!
