Event Description

This two-day mountain bike camp is run by local celebrity Alison Dunlap. Alison is a mountain bike World Champion and 2-time Olympian and has taught skills clinics for 13 years. Alison will teach the girls more intermediate and advanced skills and will spend time showing them the joy and excitement of true singletrack riding. Alison will also share stories of her years of racing, the Olympics, and her travels around the world. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to ride with one of the best female cyclists in the world! Alison has been a long-time supporter of Kids on Bikes and is thrilled to be able to offer a camp to aspiring female mountain bikers! With over 30 years of racing and riding, Alison uses her unique personal teaching style combined with her passion and love of the sport to offer the girls the highest quality instruction in a safe, progressive, and non-threatening environment. Supporting Alison will be strong and talented women role models, all of whom teach mountain biking skills that empower girls to embrace a life of bike riding. The girls will leave this camp with a new tool bag of techniques and skills, dirt on their faces, and confidence that will blossom not only on the bike but in everything they do. The Alison Dunlap Kids on Bikes Girl’s Camp is offered to girls in the 6th-10th grades only. Riders need to have shown proficient skills and show a true joy that comes from the experience of mountain biking. Riding time is extended with technical riding skills practiced throughout a ride. Alison and the coaches will show the girls various line choices, how to pick apart a technical section, how to safely ride something, and how to handle their bikes with more control.
