Why Candy?
CANDY! Just the word elicits a smile. Whether you are 5 or 95, surely you have your favorite kind and sweet memories of it, too. Brussels sprouts? Nah. Asparagus? Don’t think so… but mention candy and you could certainly spend hours talking about popular lollipops to cherished chocolate bars!
There was — and is — something exciting about going to the candy store and looking at all the great confectionary delights. We combine those memories and all that excitement in our family-centered event in support of the Fetal Health Foundation.
The Great Candy Run is an event with memorable experiences at every turn and is celebrating its 13th anniversary. Participants and spectators alike will enjoy the themed 5K course designed with walkers and runners in mind, a family festival featuring games, activity stations, amazing face painting, great refreshments, giveaways and much, much more!
Promoting a Healthy Life
You might wonder how an event called The Great Candy Run can claim to be promoting a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle is a balance of proper nutrition, good choices and movement. The Great Candy Run will get you moving, whether you are running or walking the 5K or simply chasing your little one through the fun family festival, you are moving! Parents that come out with their little ones are setting a great example that will hopefully last a lifetime.
This sweet sounding event attracted the attention of dozens of school groups, youth running clubs and more that encouraged their young students to come out and move! In 2015 alone, approximately 3,500 youth challenged themselves with completing their first 5K at a Great Candy Run event!
Giving Back
The Great Candy Run is ultimately about saving lives and helping families. Proceeds from these events directly benefit the Fetal Health Foundation. The Fetal Health Foundation supports families battling a fetal syndrome during pregnancy through information, support and research. The events highlight awareness and provide hope to these families.
